MARQS LLC, operating as MARQS, provides tournament software. This page describes how MARQS handles account information and phone numbers used for optional text messages. Live text sending is not enabled.

Account information

MARQS stores the account, contact, household, registration, and payment details needed to run a tournament. Tournament staff who already have access to that tournament can see the registration information their role allows.

Phone numbers and text messages

The only phone a participant can edit is the contact phone on the contact record. MARQS does not give the participant a second phone field for texts.

A verification code is a separate request. A person can ask for that code without agreeing to tournament updates. When a code is requested, MARQS keeps an internal snapshot of the contact phone for that check: the number checked, a hash of the code rather than the code itself, and whether the check succeeded. If the contact phone changes, the earlier snapshot stays in that history and is no longer the current check. Those snapshots are not another number the participant edits. Requesting or completing verification does not enroll anyone in tournament texts.

Tournament text enrollment is separate from that check. When someone agrees, MARQS records the agreement for that tournament and the same contact phone, including the exact wording and the time it was accepted. Optional tournament texts are operational: division calls, ring changes, schedule changes, and announcements. Enrollment is chosen separately for each tournament. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of buying a registration or any other purchase.

Reply STOP to block further texts. Reply START to remove that messaging block. START does not restore withdrawn tournament consent or enroll you in a tournament. Reply HELP for help. For help, email [email protected].

Minors

A minor does not consent alone. An adult who already has guardian authority in MARQS can consent for the minor’s own number. A parent or legal guardian who is present with an independently registered minor can type a name, choose a relationship, and state that they are completing the consent themselves. That typed declaration is not proof of identity. It does not create an account, a household relationship, or permission to manage the contact.

Who can receive phone information

Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

MARQS LLC, operating as MARQS, uses a text-message delivery provider to send a requested verification code and, when someone has consented, tournament operational updates. That provider processes the destination number and the message content in order to deliver and track those messages. That processing is not a sale or a marketing share. Live sending is currently disabled, so MARQS is not submitting messages to that provider.

Staff who already manage the tournament can see text-message status for competitors in that tournament. MARQS does not give phone numbers or text consent to other tournaments, schools, or promoters for their own marketing.

SMS terms

The text-message program is described in the SMS Terms. This privacy page and those terms are available without signing in.
